Ward 7 Community Meeting
There will be another Ward 7 Community Meeting Tuesday Sept. 10, 7:00-8:30, at the West St. Ward House, 41 West St. Last meeting residents voice significant safety concerns. On Sept. 10, Concord Police Chief Brad Osgood will attend from 7:00-7:30 pm to discuss resident safety concerns. Please join us if you can.
Traffic Issues
We’ve had two citizen complaints about drivers speeding—one on Birch St. (near the community garden) and one on Iron Works Road. I referred these complaints to the Transportation Policy Advisory Committee (TPAC). For Birch St. a traffic study in May did not document much speeding. For Iron Works, a traffic study in April did document significant amount of speeding and the Police Department agreed to perform directed patrols on Iron Works. It was recommended that a “City-wide speed study” be included in the Master Plan update planned for next year to explore additional mitigation options.
Citizens should still report speeding or other traffic concerns. I recommend using the See/Click/Fix app to report a concern. Here is a flow chart of how traffic requests or complaints are handled:

Bike Park
The Parks & Recreation held a meeting on July 24 on potential locations for a Bike Park to be funded from citizen donations. The meeting information and presentation can be found online at https://www.concordnh.gov/2039/Bike-Park. I couldn’t attend the meeting but I heard there were around 40 people at the meeting. A major sentiment was that folks are not interested in having it built at Rollins Park, and perhaps somewhat OK with Martin Park The planning team will be asked to go back and look at other parks/areas that might work. Potential sites will be reviewed and then give a report to Recreation Policy Advisory Committee (RPAC) before another public meeting (TBA – late Fall). Best case is if after second public meeting there is agreement the issue will then go back to RPAC for review and then to City Council.

Concord Community Power
Community Power is coming and looks like it will save residents money on their electricity bills....and will allow residents to select how much renewable energy content they are willing to pay for. Complete information may be obtained on the city's Community Power Page.
Two in person informational sessions will be held in September: on
September 4 at 6 p.m. in the City Wide Community Center, and
September 17 at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers.
The program officially launches with your meter reading in October, you'll see the change on your November bill.
City-Wide Property Tax Revaluation Project
The city through the work of a 3rd party contractor, is conducting a complete property tax revaluation of every property in the city. Part of Ward 7 is first in line and part will be done later. Many residents may already have been visited by one of the evaluators (I have not been visited yet!). They will need your permission to visit your property.
You can get more information and see a street address list at the Citywide ReevalutionProject web page.

Engaged Citizens on City Committees and Boards

While residents act on their values in many ways (e.g. raising a family, working, pursuing a hobby, volunteering with a non-profit or faith organizations, etc.), another way to turn our community values into action is to attend or become a member of the many city Committee or Boards. I tried to identify Ward 7 residents on various committees and boards (see below). A shout out of thanks to those who volunteer their time for the rest of us. If you have any interest in learning more or joining a committee or board let me know. Candidate nominations are sent to the Mayor for interview and possible appointment. Not all members on the city website had their Ward listed so I may have missed some folks. It you are a member of a city Committee or Board and are not on the list, let me know.
